Zadar and Cibona are in the race for Euroleague place for the next 3 years. ULEB will sign new 3 years contract with Zadar or Cibona at the end of this season, and Zadar has pole position before start of Croatian first league. After much better results in last 4 years, Zadar has advantage in race against Cibona and for final success they need to end League on the first place and to qualify for play-off finale – in that case National title will not be important. Obviously, Zadar officials believe that such scenario is possible and they don’t want to risk. The best Goodyear league scorer from this season and ex Cibona and Siroki star, Josip Sesar signed contract with club from “Jazine” till the end of the season. Sesar left Siroki 3 months ago after series of misunderstandings with club officials and didn’t play anywhere even he had serious offer from Spain. Sesar was averaging 26.5 pts per game during current season and in Zadar he will try to replace injured Julius Johnson who fractured his chin. At the other side, Split added Duane Woodward to the squad. Woodward came from Montepaschi Siena where he was averaging 9.5 pts and 2.4 rebounds per game. But Woodward had serious problems with Recalcati and players, so left the team. Woodward came to Montepaschi last year to replace Bootsy Thornton, but he couldn’t find “the same language” with club. Duane is real globetrotter – before Split and Siena he played for Toros de Aragua in Venezuela, AEL Limassol in Cyprus, Hamburg Tigers in Germany, Long Island Surf in the USBL and Klosterneuburg in Austria.
