LukOil Academic is the new old champion of Bulgaria! “The Students” won their fifth title in row after beating CSKA Sofia in the final with 3:0 victories and with 99:97 in the 3^rd game after 2 OT. First LukOil Academic had a chance to win the battle after 40 minutes, but missed it, then CSKA got closer to the win after leading with 5 points less than 2 minutes to the end of the OT, but Trevor Harvey missed a dunk and another easy shot, which sent the game to a 2^nd OT. In the last 5 minutes it was LukOil, that dominated and deserved it’s 5^th title in the last 5 years. On the other hand Vlado Djurovic’s players never gave up and shew a great “heart” in the final game. LukOil’s captain Lamont Jones scored 26 point, added 4 rebounds and 5 assists, while Donta Smith finished with 17 points and 14 rebounds. For CSKA the Spanish playmaker Carlos Cherry ended with 22 points and Greg Danielson scored 15 points, plus 10 rebounds.

The sports director of LukOil Academic Sasho Vezenkov announced after the victory, that the American Donta Smith is going to stay in Bulgaria, if he doesn’t sign in NBA this summer. As for the ambitious club of CSKA Sofia, the Serbian coach Vlado Djurovic who led the team in the last 2 months said, that he has to think about the other offers, that he has, before talking about his future.
