By Oz Porat

Only one day after Maccabi Tel Aviv said goodbye to Neven Spahija the team already decided who will be the one to replace him in the position of head coach. As it appear at the moment Oded Katash, one of Maccabi's symbols as a young player will be the head coach next year, while Zvika Sherf - the Israeli National Team coach and former coach in Maccabi will get a position as General Manager.

The leading man for the job was David Blatt who is currently coaching Benetton Treviso, but at the end the management surprisingly decided to go with Katash for the job.
Katash grew up playing in Maccabi and became one of its most identified players in Israel despite his young age, mostly because of his unique playing style and leadership, in his first year as a coach Katash reached the Final Four of the Israeli league with Hapoel Galil Elyon two seasons ago and led it to the same place this season after taking over the coaching position in the team during mid-season. to read more about Katash's career click here.

With the coaching staff, the management also thinking ahead about next season in terms of the players and one name that already came up is Maceo Baston who might return to the team after leaving it for the NBA last season. Baston is currently visiting in Israel and the chances that he will return are high despite that no serious talks were made between the two sides.
