Another shame for Serbian basketball. In second semi-final match of Serbian play-off between Red Star and Hemofarm police made terrible mistakes. After little accident between Red Star funs, police jumped over fence and started with brutal pommel. On that side of the court were lot of children and women. But police didn?t stop, so we could watch scenes from Second World War, maybe.
After that both teams went to dressing rooms, and little after that president of Red Star ? Zivorad Andjelkovic - decided not to continue this game.
After this accident 25 persons found help in hospital in Vrsac. 6 persons have serious injuries, and between them is little 13-years old kid. Doctors from hospital didn?t want to say anything to journalists because they were very busy with lot of patients.
This is topic number one in all Serbian medias, everyone is shocked.
In the moment when match was stopped result was 65:66 for Red Star.
The latest decision of National Basket association is to register result from this match 20:0 for Hemofarm, because Red Star players refused to return on the match when all was over, so Hemofarm is the second finalist after Partizan eliminated Vojvodina in previous duel.
After all this shame it is very difficult for me to talk about basket, but if you are interesting about match Vojvodina-Partizan I can tell you that Partizan won 83:84 in dramatic finish when Gerald Brown scored for 3 in the last second of the match. After match Scepanovic says that Partizan won was totally deserved, but? Vojvodina was leading during all match. They had amazing Gurovic, but Scepanovic was again unstoppable with huge assistance of Ostojic. Vojvodina leaded in one moment by 13 points, but crucial moment was 5 seconds till the end when Pavkovic missed one free throw. In the next attack Brown scored for a win.
Final series will be between Partizan and Hemofarm, and that is surprise, of course. We had several surprises this year in Europe: Marousi in Greece, Estudiantes in Spain, and Hemofarm in Serbia.
