Valeri Tikhonenko replaced Zvi Sherf on the bench of Dynamo Moscow. Is this a solution for long period or not, time will show, but it is sure that Tikhonenko got huge chance to show what he can. Today, we could hear several rumors that Svetislav Pesic is also in the game for coach position, but Pesic said before that he was very tired and that he wanted rest after Barca scandal. But latest information says that club officials will do everything to persuade Pesic to take control of club with one of the biggest budget in whole Europe.
Sherf had health problems recently, but probably that was not the main reason why he left the club. After fantastic results in October and November, Dynamo totally lost concentration in December and lost 3 ULEB Cup games and in Russia they lost against CSKA and Dynamo St. Petersburg. That was probably too much for the club board and they decided for this radical move.
Tikhonenko was first assistant to Sherf from the beginning of the season. During his playing career Tikhonenko won silver medal on World Championship in Greece 1998 after unforgivable final with Yugoslavia. He started coaching career in CSKA and led this club to the Final Four of the Suproleague in 2001 when Andrei Kirilenko played his last season in Europe.
